Joyful moments

Sometimes moments of pure joy show up when you least expect it. Before today, if someone had told me that I would be filled with joy and laughter at the sight of my son in a wheelchair, I'm not sure I would have believed them.

But that's exactly what happened when Ben tried out a wheelchair for the first time. Absolute joy. In him. In me. In the OT. And in anyone else who had to come out of their office to see what all that laughter was about.

And when Ben looked at me and said "Can we buy one Mommy?"...what else could I say, but "Absolutely."

So thus begins our adventure to buy Ben's first wheelchair. I just wish I'd had my camera.

  3. I TOTALLY get this!!!! from the moment we heard Alex would be paralyzed from the waist down, I dreaded all the "equipment" we were told he would need, I worried about it constantly, of all he would be "missing". When it was really ME missing something huge! We recently received one of the first big pieces of equipment, his mobile stander, looks much like a wheelchair. I thought the day that this would come I would feel sad. But Alex taught me just like Ben is teaching you. Alex is also soooooooo happy. The "equipment" is awesome, its what frees him. I never thought I'd see it that way but so grateful that our little ones are showing US the way. :)

  4. Man, I forget to come around for a bit and everythings changed! I love your new header! as for the wheelchair thing, Jillian got hers when she was almost 18 months old, hers (for the moment) looks like a pimped out stroller, and I was having trouble coming to terms with the word "Wheelchair" my mother in law told me to call it a stroller, but I figured as soon as I embraced the word and called it what it was, it really wasn't a big deal. I'm now attached to my iPhone, so, I'm lucky that I always have a camera! I'm SO excited for you guys!
